Abstract
This paper proposes a low-profile high-gain dipole array antenna for 2.4 GHz wireless applications. The antenna is composed of four dipole radiating elements symmetrically distributed about a circular structure in the middle which is a planar array structure for directional radiation with suppressed sidelobes. The total size of the antenna is pi × 0.732lambda × 0.06lambda. The −10-dB impedance bandwidth of the antenna obtained by full-wave simulations is 81.4 MHz, covering the frequency range of 2.333-2.414 GHz. A peak gain of about 6.8 dBi is achieved over the operating band with the sidelobe level below −12.5 dB. The results show that four element confguration can generate high gain directional radiation and good sidelobe suppression while keeping a low profle structure.
